Offshore energy storage is the future. Energy storage ensures a higher efficiency and reliability of the electrical system of offshore installations. Ships and other offshore installations are entirely dependent on their own power supply. To ensure that they do not run out of electric power, there are often one or more auxiliary diesel generators present for support and backup in order to cope with sudden spikes in energy demand or unexpected outage of the generator. These auxiliary diesel generators are often not or not fully loaded. This is a waste of fuel and running under no-load conditions is bad for the life of the generator.

Our Hybrid Power Management and Energy Storage System is not (dis)charging energy into the system. On the loss of generating capacity it steps in to take the load for a short period of time. It allows operation with fewer generators online, resulting in more optimal engine loading. Our system absorbs load variations and load changes in the electrical installation, thereby improving fuel efficiency, reduce engine running hours and provide instant power in support of running generators.

In addition, diesel generators can generate reactive power, resulting in an unnecessary load of the generators and the installation and unnecessary energy losses. This can be prevented by using an Active Harmonic Filter. This filter also reduces a large part of the (harmonic) pollution in the installation, which leads to further optimization of the efficiency, reliability and safety of the electrical installation.
