Preventive maintenance is planned and aimed at preventing problems (similar to the 'MOT' and turn for your car). Corrective maintenance takes place after a malfunction or failure has occurred and is aimed at repair and restoration (the 'breakdown service'). Preventive maintenance is always cheaper than corrective maintenance.
