Energy monitoring usually focuses purely on the quality (quantity) of energy: the kilowatt-hours (kWh) and costs. Power quality monitoring analyses the quality of that energy: the purity of the voltage and current (harmonics, dips, peaks). An installation can consume little, but still have very poor Power Quality leading to faults.
