Within Hospital Rivierenland, a crucial 373-bed regional hospital, plant downtime is not an option. The technical department continuously focuses on monitoring and safeguarding the electrical infrastructure, as a large part of the quality of care is directly dependent on the stability of the grid. Indeed, invisible Power Quality problems can lead to unforeseen medical equipment failures and unnecessary safety risks.

Despite regular checks, the hospital was looking for ways to take reliability to an even higher level. The central question was whether the existing measurement data provided grounds for further optimisation to proactively prevent future failures. Thorough investigation of harmonic currents in the hospital network

Our engineers started with a detailed analysis of the available measurement data to identify the exact status of Power Quality. To get a complete picture of the contamination present, HyTEPS recommended a specific harmonic contamination survey. Through precise measurements and simulations, the interaction between the various electrical components and the medical installations was investigated.

This technical diagnosis enabled us not only to recognise symptoms, but to identify the real cause of contamination.
