When commissioning a heavy 5 megawatt plant, Power Quality is not a luxury, but a necessity. ARN Recycling took no chances with their production continuity and engaged HyTEPS for a preventive, robust solution against grid contamination.
ARN Recycling fulfils a crucial role as a centre of expertise for the mobility sector. Their mission is ambitious: to drive sustainability and achieve a 95% recycling rate for end-of-life cars. To meet this target, the organisation invested in a new plant with a capacity of as much as 5 megawatts. However, such an expansion involves technical uncertainties. In harsh industrial environments, Power Quality problems, such as harmonic pollution, are always lurking. These invisible phenomena can lead to failures in sensitive equipment, unexplained outages and ultimately costly production losses.
For ARN, reactive action was not an option; operational reliability had to be guaranteed from day one. The fear of future outages and their impact on the circular chain weighed heavily. The technical management therefore looked for a partner that not only supplies products, but takes responsibility for the stability of the entire network. As Ron van der Leeuw, Manager Technical Department at ARN, puts it:
"We chose to install a new 5-megawatt plant. It was important for us to eliminate all possible future risks. Problems such as grid contamination not infrequently occur with such large installations and we wanted to be ahead of this."

At a 5 megawatt plant, non-linear loads often cause harmonic contamination, which seriously compromises Power Quality. HyTEPS analysed the situation and identified that without intervention, overheating of transformers and unexplained faults were inevitable. This 'invisible' contamination poses a direct risk to the continuity of the recycling process.
Our engineers took a preventive approach by accurately modelling the expected grid load. This showed that active filtering was necessary to keep the sine wave form pure and prevent damage to critical components. Through this analysis, we eliminated the risk of failure and wear even before production actually started.
To ensure operational reliability, we implemented two Active Harmonic Filters that neutralise pollution directly at the source. These systems adapt real-time to the changing load, keeping the power grid stable under all conditions. The integration was seamless, so that the new production line was immediately operational safely and without teething problems.
In addition to installation, HyTEPS provides periodic maintenance to ensure continuous filter performance. As Manager Technical Department Ron van der Leeuw confirms, "By installing the Active Filters, there are never any such problems at ARN Recycling." We take responsibility for a fault-free process so that ARN can focus on sustainability.

Don't wait until grid contamination leads to costly downtime or damage to your equipment. Follow ARN Recycling's example and take a proactive approach. Our engineers are ready to analyse and protect your installation.
